Double Crossing Switch
At Helsingør station there are different types of switches, including a double crossing switch, often called an “English switch”. This type of switch has eight tongues, as it is actually four switches built together into one. All the tongues are heated to prevent snow from accumulating. The heat ensures that the switch can move the tongues correctly, so that the train can change tracks without problems in winter.

Switch Point Heating Tailored to the Local Weather
In Denmark, the weather changes frequently, and the weather in Elsinore, located on the northeastern tip of Zealand, can be quite different from conditions just 10 km further inland.
